HILARY B. DORAN SCHOLARSHIP $2,500 LION ALLAN MACGILLIVARY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP $1,000 LION JACK DINGLER SCHOLARSHIP $1,000
The $2,500 Hilary B. Doran Scholarship, sponsored by the Del Rio Host Lions Club, is a college scholarship for seniors graduating in the spring of each year. To qualify for this scholarship the applicant must be a 2012 graduate of a public or private school in Val Verde County who is scheduled to enter the fall semester of an accredited college or university.
The $1,000 Lion Jack Dingler Memorial Scholarship, sponsored by the Del Rio Host Lions Club Foundation, Inc, is a scholarship for seniors graduating in the spring. To qualify for this scholarship the applicant must be a 2012 graduate of a public or private school in Val Verde County who is scheduled to enter a recognized vocational or trade school in the fall.
The $1,000 Lion Allan MacGillivary Scholarship is a scholarship for seniors graduating in the spring of each year. To qualify for these scholarships the applicant must be a 2012 graduate of a public or private school in Val Verde County who is related to a Lions Club member (grandfather, father, grandmother, mother, aunt, uncle, etc) scheduled to enter the fall semester of an accredited college, university, vocational or trade school. The Del Rio Host Lions Club Awards $1,000 scholarships to graduation high school seniors that have been accepted to a college or university. Applications are accepted in the spring and the successful candidates are announced in May.
Applications must be submitted not later than March 31, 2012.
THE THREE MAIN REASONS APPLICATIONS ARE REJECTED
1. Applicant failed to follow the instructions. Read the instructions for the application carefully. Everything you need to submit with your application and the way it is to be submitted are in the instructions. The scholarship committee does not return submissions for corrections, so your application must be correct when you submit it or it will be rejected without further review.
2. The student failed to submit a handwritten letter that is not more than two pages. If the letter is more than two pages or is not handwritten the application will be rejected without further review.
3. Application was submitted late. Pay careful attention to the last date to submit an application. Applications with a post mark after the last date to be submitted will not be opened or reviewed by the scholarship committee.
